  • Dear Danbury Forest Residents,
By now I am sure that everyone has seen all of the emails, news stories, and other notices about the spread of the COVID-19 virus in the Northern Virginia area.  While we firmly believe that the risk is low, the Board wanted to take a minute to email everyone to let you know how this may affect things here in the neighborhood, as well as pass on some good common sense guidance we can use to keep from getting sick until things calm down.
    DFCA-Specific Guidance
While there are none on the calendar at this time, all community events are canceled effective immediately.  We will continue to watch the actions made by the state and the county but would expect to limit group activity until Virginia is no longer under a State of Emergency.
This means that the DFCA Board of Directors, as well as all DFCA committee meetings, will be held virtually (Skype, conference call, etc) and everyone is encouraged to conduct as much community business online as is possible and practical.
Should you get diagnosed with COVID-19 or any other virus during this cold and flu season, we ask that you please refrain from utilizing any common areas in the community (i.e. playgrounds, the school park, etc.) until such time as a physician says you are okay to resume normal activity.
    General Guidelines
The good news in all of this is that there are several easy common sense things we can do to prevent the spread of this, or any other, viral infection.
The Centers for Disease Control has an excellent information pages that I encourage all residents to look over.  It can be found here:

Also it can be be helpful to check the Fairfax County Health Department and FCPS to find out what is happening in the areas closest to us:

    Neighbors Helping Neighbors
All of this being said, there are still chances to help out your neighbors in need, particularly those in one of the high risk categories.  Should you have extra supplies of essential items like hand sanitizer and toilet paper, or are willing to do a grocery run for someone who’s unable to go on their own, please post what you have or are willing to do on the DFCA Facebook page to see if there’s anyone in the community in need.
At the end of the day, it is important that we all understand that this too shall pass.  We WILL get through this, and we will do it together as a community.

    Regards,
    Justin McGovern
    DFCA President
