  Community Dog Park

How about a DFCA Dog Park?

There has been a great deal of interest in establishing a Danbury Forest Dog Park and there is a Dog Park Committee that has been created to look into the feasibility of building such a park for our community residents only. Our committee has met several times now and we have voted on a location to recommend for the park. The area will be staked out soon so you can see our suggested location. The Board has also received some feedback from our attorney on building a dog park.

We are currently getting information together to present a proposal to the Board that will include how the dog park could be funded, operated and maintained. We are hoping to address all concerns that have been expressed to us so far including safety, appearance, location, cleanliness, noise, and ecological concerns. We will post our draft proposal for community comment, once the committee has finalized our proposal to the Board.  We anticpate a few more meetings to work through all the details.

Our next Dog Park Committee meeting is open to all interested DFCA residents and will be held at 5426 Donnelly Court on Tuesday, January 19th at 7:30PM.

We are still looking for community members who would like to sit on the committee to help establish rules, discuss fencing options, share fundraising ideas, etc. If you are interested, please contact Lori St.Thomas at dfc4dogs@verizon.net. Please show your support if you would like to see a dog park in our community. You can also contact the DFCA Board by email or leave a message on the DFCA main line (703-978-9845.) All comments and suggestions are welcomed. Let us know what you would like to see in the dog park.
